ABOUT Biraj's Journey from ART to Art

I'm a doctor by training, a fertility specialist to be precise, practicing ART or Assisted Reproductive Technologies for those outside the field of Medicine. The last several years of my life have been consumed by ART or motherhood or both. A few years ago life and circumstance forced a short break from work which ended up being much longer than planned or expected for several reasons. But amidst a lot of personal stress, bereavement and the rest, it also became an opportunity to discover life outside the world of medicine and motherhood. As John Lennon famously said "Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans". And so it came to be. Because art had never been a plan.

It all started as lark when I took my father-in-law to an art party hosted by a friend since he was curious but hesitant to go on his own. It sparked enough interest for me to go to another session on my own on 24th April 2019 because I wanted to explore what I could do but owned no art materials at the time. I requested to be allowed to do my own thing at the session and Artensoul canvas, the hosts, were kind enough to indulge me. And so I discovered a "Whole New World", the kaleidoscope world of acrylic on canvas. I went home and promptly ordered paints and basic art supplies from Amazon and its been me with my canvas and paints on my balcony at home since then - soaring, tumbling and freewheeling in this colorful world, completely self taught. It has been no less than a magic carpet ride. I am hooked, totally and irretrievably. And passionately. It has been quite a Journey from the world of ART to the world of Art and now am ready to share this new world of mine with you.
