The inspiration for my paintings comes from many things. Very often its from my travels to different parts of the world. But sometimes its just from everyday things around me which I have now learnt to observe and appreciate and enjoy more keenly. It could be a flower I see on my morning walk which I might have passed by several times, an interesting tree, the colour of the sky or the pattern of the clouds. It is sometimes photos and experiences shared by close friends. Sometimes it’s a thought or an emotion or a song in my head that finds visual representation. Sometimes it’s a painting that I see which appeals to me or an artist whose style I want to experiment with. Sometimes even just a meme that I receive as a forward on social media. It can be an old photo from somewhere saved in my gallery which I stumble upon while scrolling through it, one I have long forgotten about and whose source I don’t know. There is no one particular theme or subject or style or colour palette. Not as yet anyway. And who knows, maybe never. I paint what resonates with me in that moment. I have many interests and my painting is an amalgamation of all those, a reflection of me. It’s a journey of discovering myself. I don’t want to try and fit that into a box.
