This painting was inspired by the remarkable natural phenomenon of butterfly migration witnessed recently at our residential community. Few species of butterflies migrate between the Eastern and Western Ghats every year to breed. The Blue Tiger, also known as the Tirumala is the most common among them, the other common ones being the Common Crow and Double Banded Crow. Most die after migrating and laying eggs and their progeny migrate back. Bangalore lies in the path of migration and so we are fortunate enough to be witness to this spectacle despite living in an urban environment.
