Brambles and Bushes
Acrylic on Canvas

Brambles and bushes,
Abounding by the wayside
Not deserving of a second glance
Mostly ignored unless a thorn pricks
Unlike pretty manicured gardens
or hothouse flowers
But a year of enforced captivity
With no pretty places to seek
Or pretty pictures to take
Taught me many lessons.
To find beauty and joy
In things and places
Hitherto unworthy of attention
Joy and beauty abound everywhere
If only the mind and the eye could see.
