The last year has been an arduous and uphill climb for many, needing a lot of grit, determination, discipline and staying power. But as we turn the page on this year, the craziest year of our lifetime so far, there is a glimmer of the golden light of a new dawn on the summit bringing with it a new hope and renewed energy and optimism. With the vaccine on the horizon, fatigued as we all are, hopefully we can find renewed energy to stay the final distance to scale the summit and reach the light at top. Fingers crossed we can all now soon look forward to reliving and savouring all the little joys that we hitherto took for granted but have now learnt to cherish and treasure this last year after we had to learn to do without them. 

The reference for this painting was Aoraki, as Mount Cook in New Zealand is locally known.  This was taken on our trip to New Zealand in 2002, more than 18 years ago. It was one of our most memorable vacations. With some pictures there is an instant connect with the mood and emotion of the picture. This was one such photo which somehow seemed to fill me with optimism of new dawn following a dark night and a difficult climb.
